I have lived in Clarksville for more than 25 years and am an active member of our community. I have been in the CMCSS for 6 years. This is my first year at Northeast Middle School. I received a BS in Environmental Studies from Purdue University and an MS in Soil Science from North Carolina State University. I have been a lifelong learner of science, as my father was a high school science teacher and we spent many family vacations traveling and learning about science-related topics, this tradition has continued with my husband and two sons.
I love sharing my passion for science and watching students learn and discover more about the world around them. We will be doing some hands-on activities and solving real world problems to learn about our world.
I have a few rules and procedures that will help to make the year go more smoothly. We will take the time to brainstorm in the classroom to see what these rules look like in action.
Our units of study include:
- Energy and Energy Transformations
- Weather
- Factors Affecting Climate
- Biomes and Ecosystems
- Human impact on Biodiversity and Natural Resources
- Be Kind - Our words and actions should show kindness for others.
- Be Respectful - We will be respectful of the teacher and other students in our classroom realizing we are all entitled to a respectful learning environment.
- Be Responsible - Our main priority is education, and we have responsibilities towards this, including being prepared and being active in our own education. Use the computer appropriately.
When these rules are not being followed, the following actions may occur:
- Remind the student of expectation and verbal warning
- Student Conference and the student will contact the parent
- Parental contact
- Office Referral
